In this presentation, from a comparative perspective on policies supporting family and filial support in Asia, the guest professor will explore how cultural ideals of filial responsibility and similar family-centric ideas continue to permeate in modernized Asian societies and proactively promoted in policies across different Asian societies. The talk hopes to provoke thoughts on the extent that policies in Asian societies can hope to maintain intergenerational care of the old in the family and society in the age of individualization.
