Takemi Award Commemorative Symposium Honoring Professor Harvey Fineberg: International Collaboration in Science, Education and Health

The Takemi Memorial Trust for Research of Seizon and Life Sciences is pleased to hold the Takemi Award Commemorative Symposium honoring Professor Harvey Fineberg as the laureate of the award. Professor Harvey Feinberg served as Provost of Harvard University and President of the Institute of Medicine (now the Academy of Medicine).

The symposium will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 at Gakushi Kaikan in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, Japan.

In the first part of the symposium, special lectures will be given by Professor Fineberg and Associate Professor Haruka Sakamoto of the Tokyo Women’s Medical University, laureate of the Takemi Incentive Award.

The second part will feature keynote speeches from Professor Katsuhiko Mikoshiba of Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Professor Masato Yasui of Keio University, Dr. Hideaki Koizumi, Advisor and Executive Vice President Emeritus of the Engineering Academy of Japan (this symposium committee chair), and Professor Emeritus Michael R. Reich of Harvard University, followed by a plenary discussion (transdisciplinary talk: TD talk) joined by both laureates of the Takemi awards. This TD talk will attempt to look at the current state of the art through transdisciplinary discussions among speakers from different fields and to discover a new, more desirable future direction for human beings based on the idea of Seizon and Life Sciences that encompasses all disciplines related to the study of mankind (Speakers’ biographies are available here).

Participants are invited to a reception in a separate room on the same floor and have an opportunity to interact with the laureates of the awards as well as the other speakers.
